NBC bank inks deal with Zanzibar e-Government Agency to boost revenue collection

The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Zanzibar e-Government Agency that aims at providing solutions to boost revenue in Zanzibar.

This partnership will enable the government of Zanzibar to collect revenue in real-time by affording customers the ease to pay their dues conveniently at any NBC Bank branch, Wakala, or through the online platforms of mobile banking and internet banking. All a customer will need is the control number.

Speaking during the signing ceremony held in Zanzibar yesterday, the NBC Bank Managing Director, Theobald Sabi said his bank strives to continuously invest in technological solutions to provide customer-centric solutions.

 “NBC Bank is proud to support the government of Zanzibar under President Hussein Mwinyi’s efforts in digitizing the financial sector and improve efficiency in both revenue collections and payments within the public organizations. As a bank, we are keen to continue developing solutions to make banking seamless and effortless, to provide the needed convenience to our customers. “He said.

The E-GAZ Managing Director Said Seif said: “We are delighted to partner with NBC Bank, one of the largest banks in Tanzania, in digitizing Zanzibar Government collections and payments systems. As an agency entrusted with digitization in Zanzibar, we have a mission to ensure that we collaborate with all able partners in securing the digital edge in all spheres of the public services provision points,” he said.
