The Board of Directors of Tanzania Cigarette Public Limited Company (TCC Plc) has appointed Takashi Araki as the new CEO effective October 1. 2022.
He replaces Michal Bachan who will relocate to JTI’s Regional Headquarter in Geneva, Switzerland to assume a regional role.
Araki has been with the Japan Tobacco Group (JTG) for 28 years and has held various leadership positions in JTG with increasing responsibility.

Prior to joining TCC Plc, he worked as Corporate Business Development & Corporate Strategy Vice President for JTG based in Japan.
A statement issued by the company said the outgoing CEO Michal Bachan has been instrumental in driving TCC Plc’s impressive business performance over the last two years.
“The Board thanks Michal for his immense contribution to the Company and wish him the very best in his new expanded role,” TCC Board Chairman Paul Makanza said in a statement.
