Former Absa Tanzania Executive Director Finance Obedi Laiser has been announced as the new Chief Executive Officer for Absa Tanzania replacing Abdi Mohammed who was recently named Absa Kenya chief executive.
Laiser is a Chartered Certified Accountant and a Finance Business Executive with over 17 years of highly successful career in Business Strategy Formulation and Execution, Financial Management, Cross functional leadership, Risk Management, Audit and Internal Controls, and Project Management both locally and internationally, of which over 13 years spent in senior management positions.
In an emotional farewell, former Absa Tanzania Managing Director Abdi Mohammed said, “After 7 amazing years at Absa Group Tanzania, the time has come to move on to the next chapter.I am full of gratitude as I pass the baton to, and congratulate Obedi S. Laiser, who has been announced as the new CEO of Absa Tanzania,”
He added, “I thank the board and the amazing team at Absa Tanzania for the incredible support, teamwork and great execution. Together we achieved business growth, brand transition and transformation. I experienced great collaboration and support from our regulator the Bank of Tanzania (BoT), and wish to thank the Governor and his team for the support and guidance.
He lauded the leadership of the CEO Roundtable of Tanzania, the Tanzania Bankers Association (TBA) , Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) and the various industry bodies in which he participated during his stay in Tanzania. Over this period I have met many wonderful people and travelled widely within this beautiful country on customer and branch visits. I thank our customers for the unwavering support.
