The meeting scheduled for July 12, 2024 will delve into the performance of East Africa’s stock markets for Q2 2024. The speaking panel will include Erick Mokaya, Founder of Mwango Capital in Kenya, who will discuss broad aspects of global capital markets and their current state. Others are Tamale Henry, Executive Director of Crested Capital Uganda, who will provide insights into Uganda’s capital markets. On Tanzania’s side, Acley Mbilinyi, Head of Marketing & Research at TSL, will offer a detailed analysis of the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) performance. This session promises to be an invaluable opportunity for stakeholders to gain critical market insights and strategies.
This meeting comes at a crucial time as investors and stakeholders are keen to understanding potential impacts and preparing for potential market shifts in the second half of the year.
In the recent webinar hosted on June 4, 2024, TSL discussed significant growth in the stock market for the first quarter of 2024. The event highlighted various aspects contributing to the positive market trends and offered insights into future improvements.
A notable rise in the stock market was reported attributing the growth to increased public investment, particularly in infrastructure. The market turnover for the first quarter amounted to 57.6 billion Tanzanian Shillings, with significant contributions from CRDB, which accounted for the majority of the turnover in January, February, and March.
Concluding the Q1 webinar, TSL’s Chief Executive Officer, George Shumbusho, emphasized the need for increased investor engagement and collaboration to further energize the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange. He urged the creation of awareness and training for Tanzanians on investment opportunities as a strategy to strengthen the market. “We are supposed to be much ahead as compared to where we are,” commented Mr. Shumbusho during the webinar.
The upcoming webinar is a continuation of these efforts, aiming to provide participants with comprehensive market analyses and strategies to navigate the current economic landscape.
