Dar equities market back in green on local investors’ appetite for stocks

Tanzania’s equities market ended the trading session in green last week with total market turnover surging to 1.24bn/- being a 140% increase as compared to 513.9m/- posted the preceding week.

According to available data from the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), the total volume of shares trades also surged to 2,523,084 being a 264% increase as compared to the previous week

In terms of Total market capitalization, there was a marginal decrease of 0.74% in the total market capitalization, reaching 14.79bn/- while Domestic market capitalization also gained by 0.8% to 11.09bn/-

The All Share Index (DSEI) closed at 1,773.92 points increasing by 13 % while the Tanzania Share Index (TSI) closed at 4,194.38 points increasing by 33.1%.

According to the Alpha Capital Market Wrap-up, Tanzanians dominated the sales side accounting for 87% of the sales while foreigners accounted for 13% of the sales.

Tanzanians also accounted for 99.28% of the buy side while foreigners accounted for 0.72% of the buy side.

NMB was the only domestic stock that exhibited positive price movement with its share appreciating by 4.66% to close at 4040/- per share.
