DAR ES SALAAM — Tanzania Breweries PLC (TBL) and Vodacom Tanzania PLC have signed a two-year partnership aimed at strengthening the businesses of more than 24,000 TBL retailers through business training and digital financial solutions.
The agreement will be implemented through TBL’s Retailer Development Programme, under the theme Growing Retailers Innovatively Together (GRIT). The programme is designed to give participating retailers practical skills in financial and business management while increasing their use of digital tools.
The partnership brings together TBL’s nationwide retailer network with Vodacom’s expertise in telecommunications, digital services and mobile financial solutions.
TBL Director of Corporate Affairs Neema Temba said retailers play an important role in the company’s operations and the wider economy.
“For TBL, retailers are an important pillar of our business and economic growth. Through our partnership with Vodacom Tanzania, we are investing in skills, technology and business sustainability to enable them to grow their operations and benefit from new opportunities.”
Training under the programme will cover areas including financial management, cash-flow management, inventory management, sales and marketing, customer service, entrepreneurship and responsible business practices.
Retailers will also be introduced to Vodacom’s digital and financial solutions, including SME Bomba, M-Wekeza, Lipa kwa M-Pesa and M-Koba, with the aim of improving day-to-day business efficiency and access to financial services.
Vodacom Business Director Nguvu Kamando said the partnership reflects the company’s focus on using technology to support business growth.
“Through the partnership between TBL and Vodacom Tanzania, retailers are being provided with the tools, knowledge and technology to improve their businesses, increase productivity and unlock opportunities for sustainable growth.”
The programme will combine face-to-face training with digital platforms, while the two companies will also monitor participation and results to assess the longer-term impact of the initiative.
The first training sessions were scheduled to take place in Mwanza on September 16, 2026, focusing on business management, financial skills and the use of technology.
For Tanzania’s retail sector, the partnership highlights the growing role of digital financial services and business technology in improving the efficiency and sustainability of small businesses operating within large corporate supply chains.
