NCBA Bank Tanzania has announced the appointment of Claver Serumaga as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
A statement issued by the bank said Serumaga takes over leadership of the bank at a critical stage when the bank is currently implementing a turnaround strategy that is anchored on a new Target Operating Model (TOM).
“Under the new TOM model, the bank is set on a strategic path to become a significant player in the Tanzanian economy,” the statement said.
Serumaga brings onboard over 17 years of experience in the banking and finance industry within East and West Africa regions.
He previously served as the Deputy Managing Director of Bank of Africa Kenya (BOAK) where he was key in steering the bank to profitability.
In his earlier role as Chief Digital Officer at Bank of Africa Group, he established and steered the Group’s Digital Transformation Strategy across 16 countries in Africa in the year 2017.
Serumaga is an accomplished banker with strategic business leadership and business development experience. Through strategic foresight, drive and determination, he has built diverse and inclusive teams in the banking industry with forward-thinking methodologies that push boundaries.
Serumaga is a Fellow of the CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing-UK) and holds an MBA in Executive Management from the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town.
