The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) equity market recorded a second consecutive bearish run posting a total turnover of 790m/- traded in 682,996 deals during the trading session last week being a 65.3 pct fall as compared to 2.28bn/- recorded the previous trading session.
The market was characterized by negative factors, resulting in a contraction in both total market capitalization and domestic market capitalization.
According to available data from the DSE, total market capitalization fell by 0.46% to 15.01bn/- while the domestic market capitalization also fell by 0.68%, reaching 10.82bn/- at the end of the week.
The All Share Index (DSEI) closed at 10,825.68 points decreasing by 6.8% while the Tanzania Share Index (TSI) closed at 4,091.81 points decreasing by 28.09%.
According to the Alpha Capital Wrap-up report, local investors accounted for 73.4 percent of the sales during the trading session last week while foreign investors accounted for 26.5% of the total sales.
Prominent stocks in terms of trading volume for the week were TCCL, NMB and CRDB commanding the market by 60.33%, .12.5%, and 8.1% of the total market turnover respectively.
