Tourism activities in Tanzania up 49.8% in Q1, 2023 on removal of travel restrictions by most countries

Tourism activities in Tanzania improved during the first quarter this year, reflected in the number of visitors to the national parks, which grew by 49.8 percent to 477,501 explained by removal of travel restrictions by most countries and enhanced efforts to promote tourism activities including the Royal Tour documentary.

According to the Consolidated Zonal Economic Performance Report for the quarter ending March 2023, earnings, comprising entry fees, concessions, camping and other fees, increased by 36.7 percent to 106.7bn/-

“All zones recorded increase in the number of visitors and earnings from national parks except Southern Highlands zone. Northern zone continued to dominate both in terms of number of visitors and earnings at 78.0 percent and 55.7 percent, respectively,” the report shows.

Similarly, the number of visitors and earnings from museums increased in all zones with the number of visitors rising by 20.4 percent to 16,080, while earnings increased by 30.1 percent to 143.6m/- from the amount recorded in the similar quarter in 2022
